Katsina set to generate N26bn IGR

The Katsina State government says it is set to generate N26.3 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) this year.

The chairman of state board of internal revenue, Aminu Danraboti stated this in an interview with newsmen yesterday.

Danraboti said to achieve the set objective, government has engaged the services of a consultant to meet the expected target.

He said the consultant who had commenced operation would assist in enumerating all tax payers in the state.

He said the consultant would train staff of the board and work to ensure the blockage of revenue leakages.

He said the board had introduced new measures to improve revenue generated by government ministries and agencies.

He said about N3 billion was generate by ministries and agencies from January to July this year, but that the amount was below expected revenue within the period.

He said ministries and agencies lacked logistics and professionalism to generate revenue, and that it was resolved that their staff be trained to meet expected revenue for the year.
