Katsina gov signs N114.3bn appropriation bill into law

Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State, has signed the 2016 appropriation bill of N114.3 billion into law. This was on Wednesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the governor had presented N111.4 billion before the state House of Assembly for consideration.
The budget, tagged: “Budget of restoration of hope”, was increased to N114.3 billion by the law-makers, with N43.3 billion as recurrent expenditure and N70.6 billion, capital vote.
Masari said that the government hoped to attain 90 per cent implementation.
He said that education had the lion’s share of 23 per cent of the budget, and explained that health, agriculture, water supply and security were the other sectors that had top priorities.
He urged the people of the state to continue to pray to God to guide their leaders to serve them right.
The governor also urged the people to bear with the government due to the decrease in financial allocation from the Federation Account, as it was committed to improve upon their living condition within the limits of available resources.
Masari also said that his administration had, so far, spent about one billion naira to fight cattle rustling.
He further explained that the joint security team had recovered more than 11,500 cows.
