Kano flood victims to receive help from govt
Kano State Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Agency has revealed plan by the state government to provide assistance to victims of 2015 flood disaster this week. This was made known by the Secretary of the agency, Alh. Bashir Ali, during a press briefing with some journalists in Kano last weekend.
According to Ali, those whose houses were destroyed by flood particularly in Albasu Local Government Area and are still displaced would be compensated. Although, no detail was given about the nature of the assistance but he emphasised that help is on the way as the state government has concluded plans to relieve them of their sufferings latest by Tuesday
Investigation however revealed that majority of the victims have been subjected to lots of hardship since the flood without much help from the authorities, as most of them squat with their neighbours, praying and waiting patiently for succour, particularly from the state government.
Some of the displaced persons stated that their major need and plea is for the state government to help rebuild their homes as financial constrains due to what they have lost in the flood have prevented them from rebuilding their homes on their own.
