By Kingsley Chukwuka

Killer herdsmen have again continued to ravage communities in Benue State, a renewed attack that has continued incessantly since the end of 2024.

The attacks takes a similar formation with what is happening in Plateau State, where several houses have been burnt, farmlands destroyed and people killed in cold blood.

Benue communities facing the same fate lost three persons on Wednesday night, with several houses burnt, in an unprovoked attack that took place in Mbasombo Gwer East Local Government Area of the State.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sewuese Anene, said apart from the three persons that were killed several persons were also injured as well as houses razed by the attackers.

“Security operatives have been deployed in the area,” she said.

Meanwhile, a survivor from the village, John Terwase, said the heavily armed invaders stormed the village under the cover of darkness, shooting indiscriminately.

Terwase said the attack sent waves of panic throughout the community, with many residents fleeing into surrounding bushes and nearby villages.

Some residents of the area confirmed that the casualty figures could be higher, as many villagers are missing while the injured are receiving treatment in makeshift shelters and nearby clinics.
