Judgement: Gov Fintiri applauds Court of Appeal judgement

…says it’s victory for the rule of law

Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has commended the efforts of the judiciary in ensuring that justice was served in the appeal filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 governorship election Senator Aishat Dahiru Binani against him.

Governor Fintiri in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou described the judgment as a victory for the rule of law, indicating that democracy has come to stay in Nigeria.

He also urged all parties to close ranks and work towards the development of the state.

“The judgment did not come to me as a surprise, as the PDP worked tirelessly for its victory during the election,” he said.

Rt. Hon. Fintiri added that the victory is a reconfirmation of the wishes of the Adamawa people freely expressed in the last election.

While expressing appreciation for the support of the people of the state, the governor dedicated the victory to God and the people.

He commended the decisions of both the Tribunal and the Court of Appeal for painstakingly assessing all the allegations leveled against him in the petitions before deciding on the merits and demerits of the case.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) said it will appeal the judgement at the Supreme Court.

The Chairman of the party in Adamawa State, Barr Idris Shuaibu said this while reacting to the court affirmation to our Yola correspondent.

He assured that the party is liasing with all stakeholders to take the next like of action.

“We will definitely challenge the verdict, we have seen the beginning of the end and there should be no rest until the end of the beginning.” Idris said

He reiterated that the APC will not rest until it exhaust all legal avenues to collect what he said as their mandate in Fintiri’s hand.
