JCNC wants Tinubu to settle Nigeria Airways’ unpaid N78bn entitlements

Comrade Hector Nnadi, Chairman of the Joint Consultative and Negotiating Council (JCNC), has lauded the unwavering dedication of aviation workers, emphasizing their critical role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of Nigeria’s aviation industry.
Speaking at the 11th Edition of Aviation Workers Week and Award Nite in Abuja, Nnadi specifically acknowledged the contributions of former Nigeria Airways employees, whose years of patriotic service have yet to be fully recognized with their outstanding entitlements, despite the airline’s liquidation 30 years ago.
Nnadi issued an urgent plea to President Bola Tinubu, requesting direct intervention to resolve the long-standing issue of the defunct airline’s owed payments.

He expressed hope that the President would become an “Aviation Workers Hero” by bringing the matter to a conclusive end, a move that would complement the existing efforts of the Minister of Aviation.
The JCNC Chairman highlighted the vital role of aviation trade unions in shaping the industry, noting their advocacy for workers’ welfare and their contribution to aligning the sector with national and global standards.
He stressed the theme of the event, “The Role of Aviation Trade Unions in Galvanizing Workers’ Support for Attainment of Ministerial Mandates,” underscoring the crucial link between unions, the workforce, and the successful implementation of government policies.
Nnadi pointed out the dynamic nature of the aviation sector and its significant impact on the economy, safety, and national development.
He called for strengthened collaboration and partnerships to ensure the effective achievement of the Ministry’s goals.
The JCNC chairman further elaborated that trade unions have evolved beyond simply protecting workers’ rights, becoming key stakeholders in ensuring that the broader objectives of the Aviation Ministry are understood and supported by the workforce.
The event served as a platform for critical discussions on enhancing collaboration between trade unions and the Ministry, with a focus on motivating and engaging the workforce to align with strategic objectives.
