Jaylee: The Drummer Boy Taking the World by Storm

Ace Drummer, Joshua Ayodeji, popularly known as Jaylee, is set to thrill music lovers to world class entertainment in the first ever Drummer VS DJ battle tagged ‘‘Jaylee to the World’’ in November 2017.
The event will bring music lovers from all works of life under one roof, giving them maximum entertainment as they witness Jaylee go up against the 2016 Winner of ‘‘Fire on the Mixer’’ DJ contest – DJ Sleam in a sound battle.
An indigene of Ondo State, the 28 year-old cut his teeth in music at an early age. Every item he laid his hands on, was an imaginary drum as he produced cool melody, effortlessly, to the admiration of all who couldn’t help but move their bodies to the rhythm of his sounds.
As the saying goes “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a step”, Jaylee didn’t attain his star drummer status overnight.
The Personal Drums Instructor started out professionally in 2004, making his debut on the world stage with a unique sound.
It came as no surprise that his sound captured the attention of some of Nigeria’s biggest Musicians who hired his services.
Since then, he has worked with the likes of 2Baba, Dbanj, Timaya, Phyno, Omawumi, Humble Smith, Midnight Crew, and Temi Dollface amongst others. He has also worked with some international stars like Bobby Brown, Maxwell, Boys2Men, Micah, Stampley, Yolanda Adams and Tye Tribet amongst others.
Speaking on his sound, the ‘‘Wonder Drummer’’ says: ‘‘Drums aren’t just instruments; they are messengers sent to deliver specific messages that are pleasant to the ears.’’
This is evident in the manner he handles the drums, hitting every note with a skill only a few Drummers can boast of.
With all these achievements, it’s only expected that his fans are curious to know how he does it. In reaction to this, the Entertainer says: ‘‘my motivation is God Almighty, good music and passion to always make something unique out of the drums.
’’ Jaylee who is also referred to as ‘‘Nigerian Babalawo’’ Drummer has performed at some of the biggest music concerts in Nigeria such as Lagos Count Down, Gidi Culture Festival, Rhythm Unplugged, Glo Tour, Felabration, Star Trek, Delta Yadah and one of the biggest gospel concerts in the world, The Experience.
Having attained so much height in the industry, the highly sought after Drummer is set to give back to the society through his Franchise as all is set for the first edition.
‘‘The plan is to make it a quarterly event, so that people will have an avenue to unwind throughout the year.,’’ he explains.
In a society where many youths are wallowing away, it’s amazing how JBoy as he’s fondly called by friends, has turned his love for drums into a lucrative venture, gradually writing his name in the sands of time. Indeed, everyone has something to offer; we just have to look within.
