IPOB: Police declares Nwajagu wanted
The Police have declared Mr. Anthony Nwajagu wanted over his involvement in the activities of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Security forces have been having a running battle with pro-Biafra group, who they are accusing of causing unrest in the South-East region.
Few years back, the group was proscribed by the Nigerian Government despite its insistence that it was non-violent.
In a police bulletin made available to journalists, Nwajagu was named as a ring leader of the proscribed group in Anambra State.
The police said he was part of the IPOB team that clashed with security operatives at the Nkpor area of Anambra State in August 16, 2016.
The IPOB members who were having a procession had clashed with security agencies, leading to casualty on both sides.
The IPOB leadership had described the confrontation as an unprovoked attack.
In the bulletin, the police said, “Wanted is one Anthony Nwajagu, a native of Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
“He is 41 years old and speaks Igbo language fluently.
We urge anyone with useful information on his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or any other security agency.
A handsome reward awaits the person. The information shall be treated with adequate confidentiality.”
