Insecurity by APC gov led to Plateau PDP Chairman Kidnap — Publicity Secretary

The Publicity Secretary of the Plateau State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. John Akans, has said that the unfortunate abduction of the State Chairman on Wednesday evening in Jere town along Abuja-Kaduna road as a result of the insecurity problem caused by the All Progressive Congress (APC), led administration.

Akans said that the spot where the Chairman was kidnapped is a flash point for kidnappers who daily terrorise the area without facing any form of resistance from security operatives.

However our correspondent reports that, Hon. Damishi Sango, the Plateau PDP Chairman
was abducted by unknown gunmen yesterday evening along Abuja- Kaduna Road

When a family source was contacted by our correspondent he said that the PDP chairman was on his way to attend the Saturday National Convention of the Party in Abuja before his kidnap by gunmen.

When asked if the abduction was as a result of the National Convention scheduled to hold on Saturday 9th December 2017, Akans said, “it has nothing to do with the convention because the Plateau PDP is not contesting any position at the convention: the unfortunate incident is as a result of the insecurity challenges caused by this present administration”.

Earlier the Publicity Security had issued a statement to newsmen saying, “the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Plateau State chapter received with shock the kidnap of its State party chairman, Hon. Damishi T. Sango yesterday evening, Wednesday, December, 6, 2017 around Jere, Kaduna State, on his way to Abuja for the party’s National Convention slated for December, 9,2017.

“Information available to us indicate that travelling along with Hon. D. T. sango in his car were Chief Emmanuel T. Mangni an elder and chieftain of the party, Hon. Sango’s son; driver and orderly.

“As at the time of issuing this statement, there was no communication yet from the abductors, but security agents have stepped into the matter, and have commenced preliminary investigations.

“We wish to use this medium to Sympathise with the families of our Chairman, Chief Mangni, the driver and orderly.

“While we trust the Security agents to be on top of the situation, we invite the families of those involved, friends, associates and our members at all levels to remain calm and continue to pray for their safety and quick return.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Plateau Police Command Terna Tyopev has confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jos saying the kidnappers are yet to reach the victims family.

When contacted, the Special Adviser Midia, to Governor Simon Lalong, Mark Longyen said the Plateau PDP Publicity Secretary could have been referring to the APC led federal government on failure to proving adequate security.

“Akans was not specific on whether he was referring to the Lalong led administration or President Buhari led government at the federal level”, he said.

However, the abductors have established contact with the family of the PDP Chairman and are demanding for N100Million ransom.

Family Source who wouldn’t want his name in print told newsmen that Hon. Damishi Sango has spoken with them.

“He has spoken with us, they are actually safe, but the kidnappers have placed a demand of N100Million naira ransom to be paid for him to be freed”.
