Imo women celebrate Okorocha at 55

Hundreds of women from across the 27 local government areas of Imo state on Thursday matched to major streets of Owerri, the Imo state capital to celebrate the 55th birthday of the state governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha.

Governor Okorocha says that he would continue to embark on Peoples projects to assist the less privileged through Rochas Foundation which he said that he had extended it to the entire African countries.

The women from the 27 council areas of the state trooped to the Dan Anyiam Stadium along the Weathdral road as early as 8am from where they match to the Government House to kick off the 55th birthday celebration of Governor Rochas Okorocha. The women were carrying placards extolling the achievements of the governor.

Addressing the crowd , Governor Okorocha said that he had no regret in the last 55 years of his life says that he will continue to do the things which he has been doing especially helping the ensure that the less privileged have access to education through his Foundation.He further disclosed that he has extended the Rochas Foundation to the entire African Countries by adopting five children each from all the 55 countries of Africa.

“Thank God for sustaining me till this time and I must say that I have no regrets as I will continue to do the things that I have been doing especially ensuring that the less privileged children have access to education my Foundation has been doing over the years and I have even extended the Rochas Foundation to the entire African Countries by adopting five children each from the 55 African countries through the Project 55 :5 : 55 which Rochas Foundation college of Africa.”

Earlier, the former Commissioner of Education, Dr. Getrude Oduka, said that Imo women had turned out in their numbers from across the 27 council areas of the state to celebrate an Icon and a rare gift to the people Imo state.

“We are here today to celebrate an Icon,a man that has really given the entire children of the state especially the less privileged the opportunity to go to school because of the policy of free education at all levels because education is key to life. Owelle is the great architect of the new Imo state because he has transformed the state.

So, these women are here to commence the street march to the Government House which is the main venue of the celebration. Owelle Rochas Okorocha is not only a gift to Imo people but a true man of God. So, we have come in great numbers to celebrate the birthday of our darling Governor, a leader who has touched the lives of ordinary people of the state”.

Also speaking, Dr. Joy Ezediaro, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Mobilization, said “today the entire Imo women are happy with the governor and that is why they have turned out to celebrate him. He is a man who has empowered the youths and the women of the state and you can see for yourself that he has changed the state for the better and the only way to appreciate him is to celebrate with him on his birthday.”
