Imo police arrest 34 suspected criminals, 3 fake army officers

The Imo state police command has made harvest of 34 suspected criminals, including three fake army recruitment officers that specializes in recruiting unsuspecting applicants.
While parading the suspects on Wednesday at the police headquarters Owerri, to Newsmen, the newly commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Ezeike disclosed that three AK 47, two American pistol, two locally made pistol and a catchment of immunities were recovered from the bandits.
Mr. Ezeike said that the fake army recruiting officers had dumped over 30 applicants by collecting N8,000.00 and N70,000.00 from them as medical test and recruitment exercises respectively, according to him, two pairs of army camouflage, uniforms, a pair of army boot, a cap a tapton, one metal detach walkie talkie, applicants’ files and two horse whip were recovered from the suspects, the three suspects Kingsley Inyang, Edet Okon and Victor Akpan all hailed from Akwa Ibom.
Also, paraded by the commissioner of Police include 10 kidnap suspect, 12 suspected armed robbers, two cultists, two tricycle snatchers even as four vehicles and three tricycles were recovered.
Speaking further, Ezeike directed that all Police Mobile Force personnel and conventional police officers deployed to persons not entitled and without the approval of the Inspector General of Police should be withdrawn.
He also directed the all Area Commanders and Divisional Police officers (DPO) to reduce office deployment by 40 percent to enhance operational activities of the force.
He said that weekend patrols to be undertaken by police personnel who worked in offices has been introduced to complement operational.
