A governorship candidate in Nigeria’s northcentral of Plateau state has said he will adopt Israel style of barricading farmlands to end farmers herders clash in the state. The candidate who is vying for the number one seat in Plateau under the Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN), Mr. Jerry Ishaya Mangai, said the Israeli method if apply will be difficult for cattle to cross the barrier and destroy another persons farmland. Mangai who spoke recently while featuring on a political platform organised for candidates by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Plateau Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, said this is one of the innovation he is bring on board if elected governor. “One of the area I intend to use to prevent farmer herders clash is to use the Israeli standard of barricade of farmlands where it will be difficult for any cattle to cross into farmlands and destroy crops. This idea is God’s given and I can tell you that I am the only person in the country that has this innovation. He said his desire to govern the state is based on the need to address the numerous challenges facing the people which had remained unresolved by past administrations in the state “Since 1999 when we started another phase of Nigeria democracy, Plateau has been governed by people who lack the intellect to bring fresh ideas on table and this explains why the state has been backward. “Both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition party (PDP), have done their best but their best is not good enough for Plateau. What the people need is practical governance”, Mangai said.
