IFAD explains integration of nutrition in funding programme

The International Funds for Agricultural Development (IFAD) through its Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP) has said that integrating nutrition into her funding programme was aimed at showcasing the health benefits of taking adequate and balanced diet in the lives of the people.
The National Consultant, VCDP on Nutrition, Omo Ohiopkehai disclosed this during a train the Trainers Workshop on Mainstreaming Nutrition into the IFAD-VCDP, held at Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
Ohiopkehai, who frowned at the low pace of knowledge on good nutrition among the rural dwellers, opined that research was conducted across the VCDP funding benefitting States where the above result was gathered.
“In Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State, it was discovered that the people, especially children have great malnutrition,” she said.
