Ibrahim’s fears over Christmas break
Wikki Tourists captain and right back, Mustapha Ibrahim has expressed some worries over the overall effect of the one week Christmas break for the Bauchi outfit.
The Bauchi-based side will embark on a one week yuletide break to resume on Wednesday, December 28.
Ibrahim feared that the one week break may retard the progress the team have achieved so far in readiness for the 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
“I have strong reservation for the one week Christmas break for the team which started on Wednesday to end on Wednesday, December 28.
“We have attained high height in our preseason preparations and just need few touches here and there to be in superb form for the top-flight.
“I fear that the break may bring to nothing these weeks of hard work as chances are there for some players to come back from the break overweight and loss of fitness.
“That’s certain to be a drawback or a sort of starting all over again with the league commencement date already fixed for January 15.
“Although, the head coach, Mohammed Baba Ganaru has sternly charged the players to be mindful of their activities during the break and do themselves some good to train on their own.
“I think that will be a good check on any player who wants to go to the extreme of wide celebration as such player stand the risk of losing his position in the team.
“We believe we can challenge for the available trophies in the land with the help of our new coach, Ganaru,” said the former Nigerian junior international to supersport.com.
Wikki Tourists will campaign in the Africa’s second tier club competition, CAF Confederation Cup together with Federation Cup winners, FC IfeanyiUbah.
