I constructed 1299km roads in Bauchi state, says Adamu Mu'azu
In a bid to open up Bauchi State for economic development, the State government under the former Governor, Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu between 1999 and 2007, no fewer than 1299km of roads were constructed.
This was made known by the former two term governor of the State, and former National chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP) while speaking on the achievements of his administration in a book titled: ‘My Tenure report’ published by him.
The former governor said his administration prioritized road infrastructure because it was an agent of economic growth which would not only create access but also reduce poverty by linking local communities for economic improvement.
He explained that the roads which were constructed in different parts of the State were built to international standards with double coat surface dressing and asphalt overlay while in some cases, the roads were of dual capacity.
Mu’azu who asserted that over 1000km of the roads were intra-state roads while 299 km were urban township roads said the administration partnered with the 20 local government areas in the state to construct 4km roads in each of the local governments.
He listed some of the roads to include 2.3km Yakubu Wanka-IBB Square road, 2.5km Wase road Emir’s drive, 4.5km Dass road, and 3km Kafin Madaki road among others.
