Gunmen abduct 4 persons in Delta, shoot 2 others

There was pandemonium on Friday in Boji Boji Owa metropolis of Agbor in Delta state following the alleged abduction of four persons by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

It was gathered that two other persons were shot by the same gunmen, but however, survived the attack with minor injuries.

Sources said that Boji Boji Owa had in the past few weeks been under seige by hoodlums armed with AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons.

But, the state Police Commissioner, Hafiz Inuwah in a swift reaction in Asaba, allayed the fears of residents, revealing that the police were fully mobilized to ensure the hoodlums are arrested.

A source (surname withheld) said: “The gunmen at noon on Friday ambushed the four people who were on their way home from their farms, and they were forced into the bush at gunpoint.

“The gunmen are suspected Fulani herdsmen with AK-47 rifles, started shooting sporadically into the air to scare people around. The four victims are farmers and the matter was reported at the Agbor Police Division.”

However, police officers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, denied receiving the report of the abduction, promising to investigate the matter,
