Group urges politicians in Bayelsa to accept defeat

A coalition of political party Chairmen numbering about 40 in Bayelsa State under the aegis of political Parties of Like Minds (PPLM), has appealed to other aggrieved party members and leadership to accept the outcome of the February 23, 2019 Presidential and national assembly elections in the state, noting that it is important for the purpose of peace that they imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship after the declaration of results.
The chairman of the forum, who also doubles as the state chairman of Freedom and Justice Party, Chief Ken Gbaligha Gbalikumo, made their position known in a press conference on Wednesday in Yenagoa.
The Group, said they all unanimously accepted the outcome of the announced results by INEC in the state, adding that the umpire did their best in ensuring the elections were free and fair in the state.
They further stated that the president elect deserve the victory because he has more capacity to rule the country than any other candidates that ran for the same position, noting that Nigerians should be patient with him.
They also called on the former governor of the state, Chief Timipre Sylva, to prepare himself for the governorship elections in the later part of the year, noting that he is the only one that can salvage the state from the current situation faced by Bayelsans.
While they also commended all party chairman for their peaceful disposition during and after the elections even as they look forward to the next phase of the election in the country.
