Group donates relief materials to orphanage, prison in Kaduna

A group, M’son Universe Charity Youth Empowerment Foundation on Sunday donated relief materials worth thousands of naira to inmates of Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa Orphanage and Kaduna Prisons. The materials donated included children and adult clothing, food items, groceries, cosmetics and toiletries. Alhaji Muhammad Sulaiman, Chairman of the group while presenting the items, said it was part of the group’s social responsibility to help the needy in the society. “We started as a Facebook group, but now we are a registered charity group with the aim of helping the needy; as youth we must start giving our quota to the work of charity“, he said. Sulaiman called on government and nongovernmental organisations to key into charity work and support groups that were poised to help the vulnerable in the society. Earlier, Hauwa Sulaiman, the group’s`s Kaduna chapter chairlady, said the visit was to show love to orphans and the prison inmates. She advised the inmates to be patient with the condition they found themselves and to turn to God for mercy and guidance, adding that they should reflect on their lives as they served their jail terms. Mrs Ummul kulthum Adam from the orphanage thanked the group for the donations and called on other groups to emulate them. A prison officer, Adamu Ibrahim, who received the items, expressed gratitude to the group for the visit and donations and promised to share the goods among the inmates.
