Forgery: Group accuses NASS, APC of protecting Andy Uba

…Demands prosecution
The National Committee of Yoruba Youths (NCYY) and the coalition of civil society groups has accused the national assembly and its leadership along with the All Progressive Congress (APC)of protecting Senator Andy Ubah from been prosecuted on the allegation of a case of forgery of his West African Examination Council (WAEC) against him.
The Groups in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday signed by Comrade Oladimeji Oyedemi national coordinator NCYY and Comrade Olufemi Lawson CSO Coalition demands for the immediate arrest, prosecution and suspension of Senator Andy Ubah from the Nigerian Senate.
The statement reads, “We demand for the immediate arrest and subsequent prosecution of a member of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Andy Uba, by the Nigerian Police, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC), Department of State Services (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over his extensively falsified Academic Credentials, which our independent findings, have finally revealed, are brazenly doctored, from his acclaimed Secondary school certificate to the various Unadvertised Degrees.
“We are constrained to make this demand, going by the refusal of the various anti-corruption agencies, the Nigerian Police and the Nigerian Senate, to investigate and order for the prosecution of Mr. Andy Uba, who have continued to embarrass the nation by his continued presence as a member of the Senate to the ridiculous point of having his name listed till date on the website of the National Assembly.
“We are also worried that the same Nigerian Senate who immediately reacted and ordered investigation into similar allegation against Senator Dino Melaye recently, have found it very difficult, to investigate this very grievous allegation against Mr. Andy Uba”.
The Group revealed that the two organizations have enough evidence against Senator Andy Uba, who was initially known as Nnamdi Emmanuel Uba, completed his secondary education at Union Secondary School, Awkunanaw, Enugu, in 1974.
“We also discovered that Senator Andy Uba sat for nine subjects, passing just one, (Chemistry) at credit level, according to its authentic results.
Yet, Senator Andy Uba cooked a different “confirmation of result” dated November 13, 2013, and claimed it was issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), where he awarded himself C4 in English Literature, P7 in English Language and Christian Religious Knowledge, C4 in Economics and Physics, C6 in Mathematics, Statistics and Chemistry respectively”, it said.
It was noted that Uba subsequently presented the forged results as a true representation of his results to INEC, as a perquisite to contest election into the Senate, where he currently represents the people of Anambra South Senatorial District.
“By this action, Senator Andy Uba has deliberately contravened Section 463 of the Criminal Code which provides for three years’ imprisonment, Sections 362 to 364 of the Penal Code, which stipulates 14 years’ imprisonment with an option of fine or both.
“As patriotic Nigerians, we are demanding for an immediate investigation into the falsification of results by Mr. Ubah, his immediate arrest and prosecution and subsequent refund of all the taxpayers’ money that has been fraudulently received as a Senator of the Federal Republic on the basis that he used falsified results in getting elected into the Senate.
“We are giving an ultimatum of seven days to the above listed agencies and the Nigerian Senate to act. We shall not hesitate to employ every legal means, including massive protests to the National Assembly, the Headquarters of both the Nigerian Police and the Department of State services, the EFCC and the ICPC Headquarters, to further press home our demand, should they refuse to heed our call as key stakeholders in the Nigeria Project”, the statement added.
