Gov Ortom signs 2016 Budget into law

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Monday signed the 2016 budget into law with a promise to ensure its prompt implementation since his administration believes in due process and transparency.

The governor expressed appreciation to the house for the speedy passage of the budget and lauded the cordial working relationship between them vowing to give them maximum cooperation during its oversight function.

While presenting the 2016 appropriation to the governor, Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly Mr Terkimbi Ikyange, informed the governor that after a serious scrutiny of the budget, the house approved the Recurrent Expenditure at N66,593,996,470 and Capital Expenditure N84,48,877,582 which amounted to a total of N150,742,874,52.

“We must exhibit highest morality, be upright and very sincere in trying to solve our problem’ he added.

Jubril, who commended the BoT members for allowing him to lead them, urged them to be calculative and cooperative in the way they handled party issues.

“It is now evolving that what is happening is an exhibition of democracy. Since we are in a democracy, we cannot stop anybody from saying anything but we should use various meetings positively with the view to moving the party forward,” he stressed.
