Plateau State Governor, who himself is a consummate golfer, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong, told the Daily Times that the late Sir Lucky was not just a friend. “He is a brother”, he said.

Also reacting to the incident, the Vice Captain of IBB International Golf and Country Club Abuja, Senator Emma Anosike, said he was yet to get over the rude shock.

“I played golf with him last Saturday and he did not even show any sign of fatigue as he walked the entire 18 holes without using the motorized cart”, he said, adding that “both of us even wore the same brand of Nike shoe for the game”.

Senator Anosike, who is being tipped to become the next Captain of the IBB club, said he had an appointment to see Sir Lucky yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon but was shocked to receive the news of his death in the morning.

Commenting in a Parkland Golf Club social media group, Emeka Ofomata, who described the death of Omoluwa as a loss, said the golf community would miss him a great deal.

Until his death, Sir Lucky Babtunde Omoluwa, aged 65 years, was a member of the Board of Trustees of the IBB golf and country club Abuja and the Kaduna golf club.

He has been adjudged as the most consistent and single largest sponsor of golf tournaments aside the sponsorship of players at local and international tournaments.

Sir Lucky has also been credited with the development of many golf courses especially in military barracks in Nigeria.

His Company, Pinnacle Communications Limited, has played a pivotal role in the actualisation of the Nigerian Government’s goal of Digital Switch Over (DSO) for the country’s broadcast engineering system.

Fondly described as a philanthropist per excellence and a devout Christian of the Catholic denomination, Sir Lucky has been knighted by Pope Francis in recognition of his exemplary humanitarian work.
