Gov disburses CSDP’s N5m to Vulnerable groups in Taraba.

In his efforts towards improving the well-being of the less privileged people of Taraba State, particularly the poor, the State Governor, Darius Ishaku yesterday, disbursed about N5m Cheque from the state Community and Social Development Project (CSDP), to Four Gender and Vulnerable Groups in some parts of the State.
Daily Times reports that the Initiator of the project (CSDP), is a World Bank Assisted Programme.
Performing the ceremony titled, “Project Launch for Gender and Vulnerable Group Components Additional Financing”, held at the Conference Hall of the Catholic Pastoral Centre, Mile Six, Jalingo, Ishaku, represented by the Chairperson Board, (CSDP) Taraba State, Mrs. Patricia Kumbo described the event as historic saying, “This Project Launch is for a new component in the CSDP implementation process”.
He said the component, “Gender and Vulnerable Group, seeks to directly address issues of vulnerable groups” is targeted at providing care and support activities to improving the quality of life of the less privileged in the society.
The Governor, who further expressed excitement over the tremendous efforts of CSDP said, the Agency was able to scale through the mountainous terrain of Ngada, one of the hard to reach communities to bring the presence of his administration to them.
While commending the General Manager and staff of CSDP for their untiring efforts in bringing the state to limelight, Ishaku disclosed that Taraba CSDP happens to be at the topmost of the three other states in the Country to have her Group Development Plans approved by the World Bank.
Governor Ishaku who called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the Money, added that his administration would continue to support ideas that would help actualise the rescue agenda of his administration.
“Today, we will be presenting cheques to 4 Groups in three Local Government Areas of the State”, Ishaku said.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the General Manager CSDP Taraba, Mr. Irmiya Danjuma charged the Beneficiaries to see the gesture as a life changing opportunity saying the CSDP is poised to extend its hand of hospitality to all and sundry across the 16 Local Government Areas of the State.
