Fulani Invasion: Orhii Identify With Victims at Christmas, Donate Relief Materials

Former Director-General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii Botwev, today donated assorted relief materials to victims of Fulani invasion currently taking refuge at the Daudu Camp in Guma local government area of Benue State.
His associate and ex-international soccer star, Daniel Amokachi, flew into the country from Finland yesterday to also give his own support.
Amokachi who is also a DSTV sports analyst supported Dr. Orhii with assorted sports wears and facilities.
Dr. Orhii who lamented the calamity visited on the poor Benue farmers by the marauding herdsmen said he is being moved by the touching stories emanating from the camp and identify with the IDPs to assess and project their conditions to the outside world for intervention.
A large turn-out of people converged at the camp to witness Dr. Orhii presenting relief materials to the internally displaced persons at the camp.
He brought to the IDPs cartons of indomies, buiscuits, assorted cartons of soft drinks, packets of bottle water, detergents, soaps among other items.
Dr. Orthii is first to identify with the IDPs at the Camp who were over 500 at this festive month of Christmas.
Lack of basic needs compounded serious living problems at the camp in recent times until Dr. Orhii took up the challenge to visit and assured that he will call on other well meaning Nigerians, corporate bodies and NGOs to assist in reversing their sorry situations.
Some displaced persons who spoke including Unum Tyokohol, Thomas Wergba, Mama Victoria Orbam told Dr. Orhii that lack of food, health and educational facilities are major worries to them.
They also urged him to prevail on the concerned authorities to ensure their smooth return back to their various places of abodes.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Camp Committee, Rev. Fr. Solomon Mfa of St. Francis Catholic Church,
Daudu, described Dr. Orhii as a rare gem and equally charged other Benue sons and daughters to emulate his sterling qualities.
He express joy that the items donated by Dr. Orhii would go a long way improving the living condition of victims in the camp.
The Makurdi Head of Field Unit, United Nations High Commission for Refugees, Sam Agwa, who coordinated the visit later led former NADAC DG and his associate, Daniel Amokachi on the inspection of facilities at the camp including a clinic under construction, initiated by Rev. Fr. Solomon Mfa.
