Fuel scarcity engulf Jos as pump price hits N165 per litre

The lingering fuel scarcity nationwide has finally hit Jos, the Plateau State capital.

Queues for petrol since Monday increased at filling stations across the state and has grew worse on Tuesday as vehicles were seen parked at road sides with their glasses wound up as a result of running out of fuel.

Our Correspondent, who visited the Mobil filling station opposite the Plateau State Polytechnic Jos campus, observed long queue of vehicles waiting to get fuel and obstructing free flow of traffic causing congestion on major roads.

Also, long queues were visible at most filling stations where petrol was being dispensed at N165 per litre and Black marketers who sell in Jerry-cans, were reportedly doing brisk business as many car owners, having no choice than to patronise them at the rate of N250 per litre.

Similarly, a motorist, simply identified as Peter Kant, who plies Bukuru Terminus route, said he got his fuel on Tuesday from a road side seller at the same price for N250 per litre.

“I cannot queue for close to 12 hours to buy fuel. All I do is to get the available one, no matter the cost, just to keep life going; I have no other business than transportation”, he said.
