Former Enyimba captain Olorunleke in talks to join Shooting Stars

Super Eagles goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke is close to sealing a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC).

The 29-year-old has been without a club since ending his stint with Al-Merrikh of Sudan earlier this year.

Olorunleke, a former Enyimba captain who led the Aba side to an NPFL title and has featured for the national team, is said to be in advanced talks with the Oluyole Warriors.

If the deal goes through, it would mark a significant step in the goalkeeper’s bid to revive his career and return to top-level football.

Olorunleke’s contract with Al-Merrikh was terminated by mutual agreement after just six months. He has since trained independently and briefly joined Ethiopian side Wolwalo Adigrat University before returning to Nigeria.

His potential arrival at 3SC is expected to strengthen the team’s defence ahead of the new NPFL season.

A return to the domestic league could also boost the goalkeeper’s chances of regaining national team attention.
