Fayose carrying bucket to put out fire, shameful, Says Orire

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Party (APC) and Governorship aspirant in Ekiti State Rev. Dr Adebayo Orire has criticised Governor Ayo Fayose for personally carrying bucket to help put out fire in Ado Ekiti instead of purchasing equipments for the fire fighters to be able to do their work effectively.

Orire who described this as not only laughable but shameful and mis-governance indices, blamed the Governor for the the obsolete equipment in Ekiti State Fire Services, adding that this was responsible for extent of the lost, and damages recorded during the inferno.

The Governorship aspirant was reacting to the fire incident which occoured last sunday when a  truck belonging to a filling station in Ado Ekiti,  two houses and 24 shops were razed down in the daylight inferno surged which was allegedly caused by fire ignited from the truck carrying 33,000 litres of Diesel Oil, after which it has escalated and gulped the Strive Energy Filling Station that the truck was parked while trying to offload.

According to the medical doctor turned political,  “it was amusing to see Governor Fayose climbing motors and personally using a bowl to pour  water into the fire  in his desperate attempt to score cheap political point that he was part of the team that helped in quenching the fire, when he in the real sense it he had left the the real time to be done undone”

Orire who sympathised with victims of the fire incident noted that ” the fire outbreak should have been controlled and minimised if Governor Fayose had done the needful by equipping the fire fighters in the state with the necessary equipments rather than joining the fire fighters to fetch well water to do the eye service job of putting out the fire with the fire fighting men

“Our fire fighting governor, and the fire services men’ resort to obsolete and crude method to quench the fire had caused the level of the havoc wreaked by the fire. The previous government put in a working fire agency that should have been developed, upgraded and kept effective. How much of fire will a governor put out?

“When you start playing to the gallery every time to deceive people, it is unbecoming and primordial. When you don’t take proactive measures about a situation a nd you turn around to become holier than the pope with unproductive post incidence measures, it shows a lot of governance indices.

“This is another show of shallowness, hallowness and primitivity in governance and systems organisation. We are not interested in seeing individuals but  working institutions. You could not have approved building of petrol stations in buddy township area instead of closing them after installation.

“What preventive measures were put in place? What insurance measures for the vulnerable target audiences,  houses and spaces? What is the distance between two petrol stations? What is the distance between the petrol station and the road, the next houses/buildings, what is the minimum safety standard of a gas station, etc. Enough of grandstanding, deceit and childish mesmerism. A lot may be going on in Ekiti that will give room for regrets. God save Ekiti.” He added.

The APC chieftain however appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA) and well-meaning Nigerians to give relief materials  to the victims to sooth the effects of the fire accident on them.
