Fake SARS operatives arrested in Lagos

Two men, parading themselves as operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS), have been arrested by policemen from the Ifako Police Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Lasisi Iyunade.

The suspects, Ikechukwu Victor, aged 45, and Emeka Ewuzien, also aged 45, were clad in black T-shirts with the inscription, SARS, when policemen accosted them along Julius Kadri Street, Ifako, Gbagada.

According to the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), Elkana Bala, the suspects were arrested on October 29, 2019, at about 10 a.m.

Bala said, “ They claimed to be SARS Operatives, on their way to effect an arrest at Bakare Daudu market. On further questioning, they claimed to be members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) from Victoria island Lagos.

“ Their names are Ikechukwu Victor, 45, and Emeka Ewuzien, 45, of No 2 Igi Street, Bariga and No 30 Okuta road, Leadlac, Bariga respectively. Two fake PCRC Identity card bearing the same name was recovered from them.”

He stated that the suspects were charged to court and remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Home.
