Eyitayo Jegede Is The Only PDP Governorship Candidate in Ondo State – Markarafi

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday affirmed that Barrister Eyitayo Jegede remained its only governorship candidate in Ondo State ahead of the November governorship poll.

Senator Ahmed Markafi, the factional National Chairman of the party made the disclosure at the official flag off its Governorship Campaign rally.

The Daily Times reported that the rally which witnessed a massive turn out of party’s faithfuls and supporters was held at the Democracy Park in Akure.

Mr. Marfafi disclosed that Mr. Jegede, a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the State emerged as the party’s governorship candidate at a primary monitored by the electoral body.

He added that the governorship primary poll held at the International event centre, DOME, was supervised by Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State.

Markafi, represented by the National Publicity Secretary, Dayo Adeyeye, maintained that the name of Mr. Jegede has been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He explained that his name (Jegede) would be officially presented publicly by the commission ahead of the November 26th governorship poll.

“Barrister Eyitayo Jegede is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state.

“There is no controversy about it and any other person parading himself as our candidate is a counterfeit” Markafi said.

Governor Olusegun Mimiko at the event said he has confidence in the candidature of Mr. Eyitayo Jegede to become his main successor come February 2017.

Mimiko disclosed that if the people vote massively for Mr. Jegede in the forthcoming guber poll he will consolidate on his achievements in the state.

He further stated that there would be continuity in government if the people would show their support for the PDP.

Clement Faboyede, the embattled State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expressed optimism that the party would win convincingly in the forthcoming governorship election.

Mr. Faboyede also opined that Mr. Eyitayo Jegede would be the next governor after Governor Olusegun Mimiko of the state.

Eyitayo Jegede promised to prioritise the economy of the State and make it a sole philosophy of elected the next governor of the State.

Mr. Jegede assured that he would leverage on the skills of the Civil Servants and create a partnership between the public sector and the private sector in order to grow the state economy by providing jobs.

He also promised to revolutionized the state through industrialization of its economy and effective planning by tapping from its abundant mineral resources.

“I am resolute about it, for this we must plan. Our planning shall include provision for energy supply for our industries and a reservoir of raw material base.

“That is where our agricultural potential and natural resources become important and critical. We have looked at why the old industries failed.

“We desire to resuscitate those old industries and bring new industries on board through a workable, transparent, fair, public private partnership. God our help” Mr. Jegede added.

Other dignitaries at the event includes: Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, Mr. Eddy Olafeso, South West PDP Chairman, and Lasisi Oluboyo, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State among others.
