Ex-Sen. Anosike dumps PDP

The ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was further depleted on Tuesday with the resignation from the party by a former Senator, Sir Emmanuel Obiajulu Anosike.

Sen. Anosike, who announced his exit from the party in a letter dated April 11, 2016, and sent to PDP Chairman, Ali Modu Sherrif, he claimed that that the events in the party showed that the philosophy of its founding fathers has been jettisoned for aggrandizement of a few cabal.

Sen. Anosike, who once represented Anambra North Senatorial district in the National Assembly, recalled that at inception, the PDP was conmceived as a –party that would listen to the voice of the voiceless and carry ebvery member as well as generality of Nigerians along. He expressed regret that those lofty ideals soon fizzled away.

The letter read in part: “The eventual emergence of the party flagbearer Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in spite discernible underhand was condoned in the belief that whatever imperfections being meted shall find further amelioration and tinkering in the course of drive to acquire and relish national rebirth and rejuvenation. Most of us green horns held on to this philosophy, envisioning the greater tomorrow.

“But we soon discover to our utter amazement that the intrigues horse-trading trade-offs, betrayals exploitations and extortions that gradually arrived to become the beacons and landmarks of our great expectations. In time these bourgeoning lapses, shortcomings, intrigues and aberrations became repetitive in pattern and frequently, turning into the life and character of the party and ultimately its destiny,” he said.

The former Senator also continued, “It must be conceded that the party apparatchik at the national levels had come to view party politics and intrigues as vintage harvest points of sort in terms of loyalty trading, finances and prerequisites of office.

“These contours of aberration took bold imprints as the honey pot ascriptions in matters that relate to Anambra State particularly and closely knit camaraderie prevail, with it a solid mechanism of oiled party administration, dynamics, and maturation.

“The question then begs: How have we faced? It serves no purpose now exiting you memories of the ugly wrestling and castrations that stymied the Mbadinuju administration. In all intent and purposes, it was the first open display of undermining general over-riding interests with scornful disdain.

“We went through the half-life of Dr. Ngige’s administration on a ride with the utmost heinous and devious political machinery hinged on suffocation and apparent brigandage eve invented or contrived by man. A governor was kidnapped, kept incommunicado, voted to pen a resignation with the active participation of a serving Assistant Inspector General of Police.

String of treasonable felonies were widely dispensed: Government House Awka was cannibalized and torched. The treasury was looted, properties burnt and diverse governmental valuables looted. An illegal group, NARTO, was tme vehicle and mob used by the infidels to inflict these unforgettable wounds on the state.

All these were at the behest, planning, funding and diet ion of a notable state party chairman,” he said.

He also mentioned the ignoble and shamefaced treatment of the Sen. Uche Ekwunife saga and how she was being railroaded to abort her seat in the upper chamber as part of the reasons he was leaving the party.

He therefore advised the party leadership to learn from advanced climes how party politics are played and how supporters and faithful are treated.
