Ex-Militants Bemoan Attacks on Ali Modu Sheriff

…accuse Shettima
Some leaders of ex-militants of the Niger Delta extraction have accused Senator Kashim Shettima, immediate past governor of Borno State of sponsoring attacks on his predecessor, Ali Modu Sheriff, whose convoy was attacked penultimate week while he ran around for his late father’s burial, Alhaji Modu Sheriff, the late Galadima of Modu community, north east Nigeria.
Recall that, the former governor was attacked by yet to be identified hoodlums in company of his family members and aides leaving three of his security details killed during the onslaught.

In a statement jointly signed by President, National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators (NCNDEA) Eshanekpe Israel, a.k.a Akpodoro and the Coordinator, Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC), Engr Jator Abido, described the attacks as unfortunate at a time the nation is facing critical health challenged posed by the dreadful COVID-19.
The leaders also slammed Online media platform for publishing a malicious report against Ali Modu Sheriff alleging that he evaded testing for COVID-19 haven made contacts with persons who have tested positive.
The duo of Engr. Jator and Eshanekpe further urged security agencies to do a critical job in fishing out those behind the attacks alleging that Senator Shettima would be useful in their investigations as he has never hidden his disdain for his predecessor.
“The flag flown by the enemies of Sen. Ali Shariff has been short down by the excellent result emanating from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) with a negative result for the former governor and all his family members and aides as against the positive for COVID-19 result speculated by the camp of his alleged enemies.
” We are of the opinion that the security agencies should go beyond the periphery of hounding those behind the dastardly and condemnable attack on the convoy of Alhaji Sheriff and probe into developments thereafter.
“Additionally, the Coalition want the investigators to focus its searchlight on a Senator who was at a time the godson of the former Governor Sheriff, Kashim Shettima, who they said Sheriff made his successor in the office but as a “man lacking in good conscience” he has turned around to become a rebel against his erstwhile ‘political master”, the statement alleged.
The statement further explained that Sent. Sheriff has paid his dues in political arena, a development it added has placed him in a position of envy for those who lack integrity, wisdom, general acceptability and popularity in Borno political space.
“We are not unmindful of the fact that a paperweight former governor is fighting tooth and nail to remain relevant in the scheme of things in the insurgent ravaged north-east state of Borno. Incidentally, Shettima is swimming against the tide because the good people of Borno know who they love without blemish,” the statement added.
