Evans wins rape conviction appeal

Former Sheffield United striker Ched Evans has had his conviction for rape quashed by the Court of Appeal in London. A re-trial has been ordered and must take place within the next two months. Evans, 27, was jailed in April 2012 after being found guilty of the rape of a 19-year-old woman at a hotel in Rhyl, Wales, on May 29, 2011. He was released from prison in 2014 after serving half of a five-year sentence. The Wales international has not played football professionally since his release.
