Epe Grieves over Death of Monarch’S Son, APC Chieftain

Twenty four hours after, the residents of Epe Local Government Area of Lagos were still in shock on Sunday afternoon over the death of the first son of the community’s monarch, Aremo Azeez Adewale, and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Muiz Bello.

Azeez, the son of the Olu of Epe, Oba Sefiu Adewale; and Bello died on Saturday when their boat capsized in the Epe Local Government Area of Lagos.

The late Adewale was until his death a former Secretary to the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSMPWB) and a director in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, while Bello, a lawyer, was APC’s chairmanship aspirant in Epe and one of the sponsors of the yearly Lagos International Career programme by the Box Office Team.

They were said to be returning from a riverine area in Epe where they had gone to cast their votes before the unfortunate incident occurred Saturday afternoon.

According to the immediate past Secretary to Eredo Local Council Development Area of Epe, Shamsideen Adeniyi, the remains of Aremo Adewale and Bello had been recovered from the sea while those of Bello’s Personal Assistants and others who lost their lives were yet to be found.

The Daily Times learnt the remains of Aremo Adewale were interred on Saturday, according to Islamic rites in his house in Isasi, Epe.

However, Muiz Olayinka Bello’s wife, Monsurat, who was with them survived the incident and is currently recuperating at the General Hospital in Epe.

APC Lagos State Chairman Chief Henry Ajomale described the death of the people as unfortunate.

“It is very unfortunate and we pray that the Almighty God grants them eternal rest and gives their families the strength to bear the loss. They died as honourable men, who fought for the progress of this country.” he said

Lagos gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Sunday posted on his social media condolence on the loss of two strong men of the party “I commiserate with the Olu of Epe, Oba Shefiu Adewale, and the entire Epe town on the loss of our Oba’s son, Kunle Adewale, Muiz Bello and 4 other Epe indigenes in an unfortunate boat mishap. I extend my condolences to the families who have lost relatives to election-related violence. May we never record a recurrence of these unfortunate events.
