Engr. Dan Appeals to Politicians to Promote Peace For Free And Fair Elections

South Africa based producer, mixing engineer, businessman and philanthropist, German Onoriode Daniel popularly known as “Engr. Dan”, has urged politicians to eschew bitterness and promote peace to ensure free and fair general elections come 2023.

The executive director SLESH MUSIC WORLDWIDE, and founder/CEO of GEM-DAN HOLDING LIMITED (GDHL), made the appeal during a telephone chat with our correspondent on Sunday. He urged political candidates and parties to desist from acts capable of disrupting the upcoming 2023 general elections.

“As the campaigns for the presidential elections are about to officially kick off in the coming weeks, we need to be careful and play politics with wisdom and the good counsel from the elders. Politics plays an important part in the selection of the right people who have the nation’s interest at heart for the job of nation building and the betterment of the society. Through the game of politics, leaders are elected into different levels of political offices in government at various seasons and times.”

“I hereby plead with our politicians to oppose the politics of all or nothing or do-or-die and learn to be gracious in defeat when the lose. We are all brothers and sisters created by God in His own image, and as such should play politics with the mindset that one day, we will also return and reside and interact with both our previous opponents and those we have led”, Engr. Dan continued.

Daniel pointed out that “many crisis and killings going on in the country could be seen as politically motivated. So, we need to be careful and play politics with wisdom and goodwill.”

Onoriode also faulted the manner some politicians go about the ‘business of politicking’, noting that “some employ high-handedness, overbearing attitudes, use of political thugs and nefarious activities during campaigns, actions that most times, put them at logger heads with the people the hope to represent.

Engr. Dan also encouraged the youths to join politics so that they can contribute to leadership and development and cause a change in the society. He insisted however, that politicians need to play the game according to the rules so come 2023 the elections will be free and fair, and without incidents or rigging or racketeering.

“2023 election is not the end of life or the world. There is no need for killing, kidnapping and other evils associated with politics, to be unleashed on the electorate”, He enjoined.

“I advise all political office seekers to be cautious of their actions, be mindful of their language and avoid anything that could cause crisis in their communities, local government areas and states because of the approaching 2023 general elections,” Engr. Dan reiterated.
