Empower, run youths’ inclusive government, Edo youths tell Obaseki

A youths group, The Edo Round Table Talk, a brain child of Omo Edo Pataki Project, has urged the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, to urgently include youths and youths centred policies in the governance of the state.
The group, which is a youths networking group of young Edo career and business leaders, commended the administration’s drive to industrialise, develop and reposition Edo State since it assumed office, but lamented that the current approach was not youths driven.
In a release signed by its leader, Ehiosuomwan Ero, the group lamented that successive administrations in the state had neglected the youths population which forms the bulk of the electorate and urged the governor to include the youths in its policy formulation and empowerment programmes.
The group warned that efforts of previous administrations in youths centred programmes and policies had failed because the youths were not carried along in the formulation.
The statement charged the governor to urgently create the right environment for advancement and initiate programmes that would empower, and solve the high unemployment rate among the youths in the state
“While we appreciate the effort to make Edo State among global leading state, if the youths are not made the bedrock and the state lacks the necessary enablers such as conducive environment, equal representation and quality representation, it may end up like previous efforts that created more problems than solution.
