Embattled LP Supporter Ambushed By Armed Men Escapes Death As Police Comb Neighborhood For Assailants
Tragedy was reportedly averted when a man identified as Ikpotokin Sylvester Usunobin narrowly escaped death when armed men who laid ambush for his arrival at about 7:30pm on April 14th 2023 fired sporadic gunshots following his arrival.
It was gathered that Ikpotokin Sylvester Usunobun who arrived home late at night was about opening his gate when armed thugs emerged from the darkness of the night and moved towards him in an attempt to kidnap him.
However his kidnap attempt was instantly scuttled as he reportedly raced back into his car and drove off to avoid being abducted.
The armed men were said to have instantly fired sporadic gunshots in the atmosphere as their target fled and escaped from their reach.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police, who were immediately invited to the community by the wife of Ikpotokin Sylvester Usunobun , combed the entire neighborhood for the armed men but to no avail as it was gathered that the armed men immediately escaped before the arrival of the police.
The LP supporter until the attack of April 14th had been at the receiving end of several death threats from faceless individuals immediately aftet the general elections of 2023.
It is thought that members of the opposition party are behind his ordeals as several death-threat letters were reportedly spotted within his vicinity.
