Elections postponement an act of God, says security expert

By Sunday Nwakanma – Umuahia

An international security expert and Chief Executive Officer of Trust Link Ventures, Dr. Cyra Chukwunazom Obi has described as an act of God the postponement of the general elections scheduled for last Saturday. Speaking on the postponed elections in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, expressed the belief that God was at work in the postponement of the polls, in spite of all the security measures put in place by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a hitch-free exercise. “Let us appreciate that God is in charge of all situations. Any human being created by God should not support but frown at the incessant killings of others. “All should work with God’s grace so that one with the fear of God will emerge at last. “If anyone without the fear of God emerges, he will not last, especially as blood is being needlessly shed by others”, he said. Obi urged INEC to ensure that it sticks to the new dates announced for the elections, advising that INEC should “work without fear or favour to ensure that the country is in peace.” However, he expressed regrets that it was rhetorical for the President to claim ignorance of the shift in the elections, only to come out to attempt to vote.
