Elections: LGAs receive electoral materials in Gombe

The 11 local government offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Gombe State have received electoral materials for Saturday’s rescheduled elections. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the materials were initially kept at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Gombe, before the distribution exercise. NAN correspondent who visited three of the offices in Akko, Gombe and Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Areas observed that the materials were being offloaded from trucks on Thursday. Ibrahim Ali, Electoral Officer in Akko LGA, confirmed to newsmen that all materials for the 11 wards under Akko LGA were confirmed and received. “We are very ready and set to go. There will be no excuse. We have brought all our materials meant for Akko after sorting and confirmation at CBN office. “We are not facing any challenge. Everything is under control and we have enough security fully armed. “By 9 a.m. tomorrow (Friday), we will starting distributing the materials to the 11 wards under this local government,” Ali said. The Electoral Officer of Yamaltu-Deba LGA, Mr Suleiman Tijjanni, also confirmed the receipt of all materials required for the 11 wards under his jurisdiction. The Assistant Electoral Officer, Administration, Gombe LGA, Mr Saleh Inusa, said he was also satisfied with the arrangement on ground. Inusa said that every material for the local government was complete, adding that there were no issues with the card readers as well.
