El-Rufai supports NCC against telecom infrastructure vandals

 

The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has thrown his support behind the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)’s fight against telecom infrastructure vandalisation, which he described as economic sabotage.

“I will personally lead the advocacy against some of the ills in the telecom industry like multiple taxation, vandalism of telecom equipment, theft of optic fibre cables and right of way (RoW) issues that are bedeviling the industry,” the governor said during a courtesy visit by the management of NCC led by the executive vice-chairman, Prof. Umar Danbatta to his office in Kaduna.

el-Rufai also stated that he supports the commission’s 8-point agenda, which is geared towards job creation which will ultimately help to build a sustainable economy in the nearest future.

Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, who was accompanied to the Government House, Kaduna State by some members of the management of the Commission said the commission visited the Governor to share the vision and mission of the telecom regulatory agency with the governor for a better Information and Communications technology (ICT) environment in Nigeria.

“It’s imperative for us to share the vision and mission of NCC with the government with a view for a better Information and Communications technology (ICT) environment in Nigeria,” he said.

Danbatta also used the occasion to highlight the 8-point Agenda of his administration that will revolutionize the telecoms Industry in the next five years.
