The Desert Warriors manager has revealed that the club will continue playing their home matches in Maiduguri

El-Kanemi Warriors have reaffirmed that they will continue to play their Nigeria Professional Football League matches in Maiduguri.

Warriors for three season couldn’t play before their teeming fans due to insurgency but with peace restored in the state, the Desert Warriors returned back to Maiduguri in the 2015/16 NPFL season amidst joy from their fans.

Team manager,  Baba Ali Jide has confirmed that Warriors will continue to play their home games in Maiduguri since peace has returned to the state.

“Playing at home in Maiduguri gave a breathe of fresh air considering that for three season we were playing away from home. The joy the fans expressed seeing ElKanemi Warriors play at home was overwhelming. It did motivate the team and that in a way resulted to that excellent home record,”

“We are staying back home next season. Peace has returned to the state so there won’t  be need to airlift teams from Abuja again. Plateau United who were our last guest at home last season came to Maiduguri by road and the journey was peaceful.

“Even El-Kanemi Warriors travel by road without any stress. It’s a proof that peace has returned to the state.

With regards to resumption date for pre-season activities,  Baba Ali noted that no official date has been set.

“No date has been set for preseason yet but we shall communicate as soon as date has been confirmed.”
