Edo 2016: I’m the best to succeed Oshiomhole, says Airhiavbere

An All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Edo State, General Charles Airhiavbere has pledged to drive the party’s progressive ideologies and programmes towards the overall development and improvement in the living standard of people of the state.
Airhiavbere said with his viable economic model which encompasses effective security system, youth and women empowerment, blocking of leakages in all sectors of economy of the state, rehabilitation of ailing industries and factories long abandoned by previous governments, employment generation and other laudable programmes, an APC government under him would launch Edo State to the outside world.
Besides, he said the APC led government under his watch would construct trailer parks and build new markets, as well as other productive ventures that will help shore up the revenue base of the state.
Speaking during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Centre (NUJ) in Benin, the state capital, to formally declare his intention to contest for the September 10 governorship election fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), he assured the electorate and Edo people that if elected into power, priority would be given to the Gelegele sea port to attract investors to boost the huge economic potential of the state.
He pointed out that as an accountant and economist, he is well grounded on policy issues and determined to turn around the fortunes of the state, adding that as a close ally to incumbent Governor Adams Oshiomhole having contested with the governor and emerged as the PDP candidate in 2012 gubernatorial polls, and therefore, he remains the candidate to beat in the forthcoming election.
