We have done well, say APC Govs

Ahead of the two year anniversary of the current administration on May 29, 2017, Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has given the APC government in the country a pass mark, saying “we have done well” despite the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Governors rising from their monthly meeting at the party secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday spoke to the press through the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, said: “We ended a very successful meeting in continuation of our agreement at the last meeting that we will be meeting every month with the party’s leadership. Today is one of those meeting and we will have another one next month.
“The issue of the national convention was raised and we had even taken a decision on it at the last meeting but unfortunately the President is not here as the leader of the party. What we agreed was since we have an acting president, the team which was supposed to meet with the President with suggested date; we now agreed that the same process should start again with the acting president.
“This is a convention which is constitutional and the leader of the party must also be at the convention. At the time, we agreed to meet with the President on the issue; unfortunately the president had to travel out. Since the approach was first to the President, we all agreed to meet with the acting president with the same process to agree on a date for the convention”.
On the party’s achievement so far, Lalong said: “There were issues like that but as you can see from this meeting, everyone is smiling. The party is smiling.
Those challenges have been taken over by events; that is why I am telling you that we are taking things serious now and we are meeting on a monthly basis. Issues like that are no longer issues.
Speaking on reconciliation where there were crisis, the Governor pointed that reports were received at the meeting that issues of minor disagreement in some states were received and emissaries’ sent there. The parties were invited and the issues settled.
In his earlier remarks, the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, said he is happy at the resolution of the APC Governors to be meeting monthly with the National Working Committee as the result is numerous already though this is the second meeting.
“I want to say that I am so happy that we have met twice and we are seeing the effects, very positive, very salutary effects are beginning to manifest in the party.
“The numbers, with which we turned out alone, is thus, an encouragement to members of the National Working Committee and I thank you for your commitment. Since we started, a lot of things are happening; I have invitations all over now to come for commissioning of projects.
“I had a wonderful experience in Zamfara State where I had distinct privilege of commissioning very two magnificent water projects with facilities to reticulate, redistribute water to over 6,000 km of pipelines. I said I am especially happy because their effect on the lives of people is obvious.
“It made me to see that our Governors are in fact, embarking on projects that touch the ordinary man and woman and made them feel that they have benefited from the APC government.
“Already we decided we are going to do these projects of showcasing in the various states.
In fact, it is sad that we are full of issues at the central level which the social media has tended to concentrate on.
“All the good works that our governors are doing tend to be downplayed. I thank you Zamfara. On Saturday, I am going to Kaduna state. I was to be in Kano state tomorrow (Thursday) but I cannot, so, I am sending the deputy national chairman north to Kano.
“We are very glad at this development and very soon, the public will see that it isn’t just the rate of Naira that is the issue but in fact, progress is being made in all our states, 24 of them all over the country.
Of the 24 APC Governors, 9 were present and 6 deputy Governors represented their principals.
