We’re determined to offset arrears of salaries – Akeredolu

The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has commended workers in Ondo State for their resilience and dedication to the service of the Sunshine State.
In his maiden address as Governor of Ondo State on the occasion of the 2017 May Day Celebration at the Arcade in Akure, Arakunrin Akeredolu urged workers to integrate due process and dialogue into all their labour related agitations to “minimise the negative consequences caused by incessant industrial crises in our state”.
Akeredolu advised the state workforce to be diligent in the discharge of their duties and ensure peaceful industrial relations at all times for the state to be able to productively increase its revenue base through the diversification policy thrust of his administration centred on Agriculture, Industrialization and entrepreneurship.
Governor Akeredolu who said his government was resolutely determined to offset all arrears of salaries owed workers in the state, used the occasion to reiterate commitment to regular payment of salaries but advised the workers to cooperate with his administration in its ‘Journey to Redemption’ by being partners in progress for sustainable socioeconomic progress of the Sunshine State.
The governor urged the workers “to cultivate positive attitude and shun absenteeism, lateness to work and other unethical conducts which are tantamount to indiscipline and poor output in the public service” all in bid to grow the state economy and make lives more meaningful for residents of the state.
Earlier leaders of various Trade Unions in Ondo State which include Comrade Bose Daramola, State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Ondo State Council and Comrade Soladoye Ekundayo, State Chairman,Trade Union Congress, Ondo State Council had passionately appealed for the sustenance of the labour-friendly posture of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
