Delta urban renewal ministry generates N178.46m in half year 2022

The Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Delta State Ministry of Urban Renewal, Mrs. Charity Ehimen, has pledged to adhere strictly to the objectives of the Okowa administration on fishing strong.

She stated this while presenting the 2023 budget of the ministry for consideration at the Ministry of Economic Planning, Asaba.

The PS said the ministry was prepared to complete all ongoing projects in line with the strategic framework and economic direction of the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, DailyTimesNGR gathered.

Ehimen said the ministry was committed towards utilising the 2023 budget provision to further contribute in enhancing the Stronger Delta Agenda of the state government.

Accompanied by directors and senior management staff of the ministry, Ehimen presented the 2022 Budget performance and evaluation report for the 2022 fiscal year, before putting up a strong defence for the 2023 proposed budget estimates.

She maintained that ministry did well in the 2022 because of the availability of funds.

She added that the ministry generated revenue through town planning fees and other development fees and the revenue generated was put at N178, 463, 607.11, as at the end of July 2022.

She said that there were challenges arising from some irregularities embedded in the 2021 Urban and Regional Planning Law as well as illegal revenue collection and related issues.

Ehimen expressed the hope of a way out of the challenges in 2023 with the expected amendment of the law as directed by governor Okowa.
