Dalung blames ICT for controversies

The Minister of Youths and Sports, Hon. Solomon Dalung, has blamed the misuse of Information Communication Technology (ICT), as responsible for the distortion and misunderstanding of his speech.

Dalung stated this in Jos while interacting with newsmen, saying that he has deliberately decided not to react to some of the untrue statement created to him which has often stirred up controversies.

His words: “In a global environment where the power of ICT is well enshrined, the power of creation, reaction and editing of speeches and images is high, but I have not been too concerned about some of the statements credited to my person and I have decided deliberately not to even react to them because we have the responsibility of leadership.

“Those statements should not be taken seriously because they are just a part taken from a general submission which makes it an incomplete statement, distorted to communicate something differently.

“It should be understood when people react because sports has a global fever which comes with a lot of passion and Nigerians only believe in success, thus anything less than that will attract criticism and uncomplimentary outburst from all quarters.

“I have come to be strengthened and encouraged by those persistence criticisms because they steer me to work harder as it has come to a point that if I don’t read in the dailies ‘sack Dalung’, I feel as if I have not done anything; therefore I am grateful to my critics because they provide me with the fuel of hard work,” Dalung stated.
