Community mobilises against Fulani herdsmen

The people of Oruar’Ivie community in Abraka, Ethiope East Council Area of Delta state, are spoiling for a war against some Fulani herdsmen who it was gathered severed the head of a youth for yet to be ascertained reasons.
In their quest for a revenge angry members of the community stormed the Hausa Quarters in a reprisal attack.
It was learnt that the brickbrat started on Monday when some armed bandits, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, held a woman, Mrs Maria Ejor, who had gone to a place known as Ovre to farm, hostage. A rescue team which included one of her sons, Solomon, reportedly mobilised to Ovre to rescue the woman.
In the course of the ensuing confrontation between the two sides Solomon was reportedly shot by the armed herdsmen.
When information got to the community that Solomon’s head had been severed from his body the youths stormed the palace of the king of of Oruar’Ivie, Ovie Akpoyoma Majoroh, in anger and moved on to the Hausa Quarters in the town on a revenge attack.
To quell the mounting tension, law enforcement agents are said to have been posted to the town in their numbers.
In his response to enquiries, spokesman of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, said fingers are pointed towards the herdsmen, but that investigation is already on. He however said the situation had been brought under control.
