Cleric urges students against prostitution, election violence

Students have been advised to shun acts of prostitution and election violence now that the country is seriously facing economic hardships, with the general election around the corner.

The charge was given by the Education Secretary, Anglican Diocese on the Niger, Ven. Obiora Uzochukwu, on Tuesday, during this year’s Anglican Students Social Competition held at All Saints Cathedral field in Onitsha.

Ven. Uzochukwu, who spoke through the Supervisor, School Chaplaincies, Ven. Ebenezer Agogbua, stated that the aim of organising the annual event was for the social and moral integration of Anglican students in various public and mission secondary schools under the diocese. He assured that new innovations would be introduced to add colour to the event.

Ven. Uzochukwu commended the Anglican Bishop on the Niger, Most Rev. Owen Nwokolo, who was represented by his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Elsie Nwokolo, for supporting the event, adding that students from various family backgrounds and secondary schools used the occasion to interact with one another and also recorded successes in sporting competitions.
