CDS’s wife urges officers’ wives to embrace financial discipline

President of Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Omobolanle Olonisakin has urged wives of serving officers to embrace financial discipline and budgeting.
Mrs. Olonisakin made the appeal on Wednesday in Abuja, at the closing session of a two- day training programme on personal finance management for DEPOWA members.
She said that monthly budget for salary earners is important to ensure that unnecessary expenses are avoided, insisting that planning and budgeting is inevitable if they must succeed financially.
Mrs. Olonisakin further urged participants at the training programme to share experiences that would help them even on retirement, as according to her, it is important they device strategies that would enable them live within their means and avoid taking new debts.
Adebisi Kuforiji, the resource person said the training is about empowering women to invest income yielding projects while they are in active service.
Also speaking, National Secretary DEPOWA, Mrs. Christiana Malgwi stated that the training programme has imparted positively on members.
“It has opened their eyes to investment opportunities that are outside the barracks and has also taught them to manage resources and to have useful life after retirement,” he added.
