CAS vows to take full responsibility of personnel health

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has reassured the determination of the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) to take full responsibility of the health challenges of its returned personnel deployed to combat Boko Haram insurgency in the North East.
Abubakar gave the assurance at the opening ceremony of the Medical De- Induction of NAF Special Forces from operation Lafiya Dole held at the NAF Base, Minna .
He declared , ” it’s in commitment to improved welfare of the personnel as utmost priority.
“The Air Chief was represented by the Chief of Medical Services, Air Vice Marshal Salle Moyi Shinkafi who applauded them for the meritorious service to their fatherland exhibited in their commitment, dedication and sacrifice that is not in doubt.
“We in the NAF and indeed all Nigerians are grateful and proud of your performance. Your commitment, dedication to duty and sacrifice no doubt contributed to the success recorded by our armed forces against Boko Haram insurgency”.
The first of its kind the 115 soldiers and officers who returned from North East are to have a total review of their physical and psychological health status due to the period of their deployment to combat zones, many of them could have encountered physical and mental stresses that might have long period of effects.
He emphasized that a team of different health professionals ranging from Psychiatrists, Physicians, Clinical Psychologist, Counsellors and Social workers have been constituted to conduct the two weeks de- induction Programme, charging them to allowed the personnel benefit maximally to add value to their lives and the society.
In his remarks the Director of Clinical Services, Air Commodore Mohammed E. Shuaibu who expressed confidence of the personnel noted that they are to embarked on series of lectures and medical examinations as a demonstration of commitment to their wellbeing because of the health challenges they faced during their operations in the North East.
