Carpenter in court for beating wife

A 45-year-old carpenter, Olapade of Omoniyepe area. Omu-Aran, in Kwara State, has appeared before an Ilorin Magistrate Court, for allegedly beating his wife. Olapade appeared in court on a one-count charge of causing hurt contrary to Section 253 of the Penal Code Law.

Olapade was arrested by the police on December 18, 2015 following a report at Anti-Human Trafficking (Women and Children Protection Unit) State Criminal and Intelligence Department, Ilorin, by his wife Catherine Olapade.

According to her she was severely beaten by her husband when she went to the pack her property from the accused house, in the course of which she was injured on her private part.

The trial magistrate, Mrs. Idowu J. Bamigboye, released the accused on bail on the sum of N70, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
