Buhari fit to contest 2019 presidential election – Aide

Special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Alhaji Abdulrahman Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila, has said that the president is fit to run for the 2019 presidential election. He stated this on Monday while Speaking to newsmen in Kano.

According to Sumaila, it was a normal thing for an aged person like Buhari to fall sick, saying even the pressure of work could make him fall sick.
However, Sumaila said only competent medical experts could ascertain whether the president was fit or not to run for the seat come 2019.

He said the issue of president’s health status was not a new thing, as according to him many things had been said about his health condition since the very first time he contested for president in 2003.

“I am confident that President Buhari will recover and continue to steer the affairs of this country to complete his first tenure and re-contest for the second one in 2019,” he said.

He said that whether the former Kano state governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso would contest for the seat or not, Buhari would be waiting for whoever is eyeing the position.

He recalled that Kwankwaso contested against Buhari in 2015 and roundly defeated, adding that his present political noisemaking was going to result into similar defeat come 2019.

“We are ready for anybody. Anybody we are ready. We are politicians and we are ready to face any challenge”
